Our Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Services in Wichita

Short-Term Skilled Nursing Center

Short-term skilled nursing helps patients recover following an acute illness or injury, allowing more time to heal post-hospital and greater opportunities to be safe and successful after they return home. A patient may require a stay at a skilled nursing center following a surgery, accident, fall, stroke, heart attack, or other significant medical events.

Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) are different from long-term care centers or assisted living communities. They are a temporary place to rehab and recover. The typical skilled nursing facility stay is 14–21 days.

After goals set by the patient’s care team have been met, the patient can transition home. If the patient’s change in medical condition has affected their ability to return home safely, decisions can be made to move to a higher level of care—for example, from Independent Living to Assisted Living, or Assisted Living to Long-Term Care.

Our team of social workers works with patients and family members to develop a plan for a return home or the next level of living. They collaborate with the care team to ensure all future needs are met and patients are successful in their continued journey toward independence.

Therapy Services

For the past three decades, we have provided families from Wichita and across the area with exceptional therapy services through our skilled nursing program. We’ve developed our services to make sure patients receive the care and assistance they need to take back control of their lives.

Our physical, occupational, and speech therapists are focused on creating a personalized rehab plan that helps patients meet their unique goals. Therapy services are available to all Catholic Care Center residents, as well as to the larger community through our Post-Acute Care Center.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapy services are customized to best suit the patient. The nursing team will review the patient’s medical history to develop a program that will restore movement and functional ability. We are mindful of the patient’s limitations, calibrating the process to the pace they are comfortable with.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy services are geared towards helping the patient live their life to the fullest while improving their comfort. Our nursing team assesses their current abilities before creating a therapy program that aims to help them reach their goals. We are mindful of the patient’s pace, making sure that they are comfortable at each step of the process for optimal results.

Speech Therapy

Our speech therapy services are designed to help patients improve their ability to communicate. Before beginning each program, we review the patient’s medical history and assess their current abilities. Additionally, we identity issues that can potentially cause problems down the line.

Post-Acute Care Center

At Catholic Care Center, we recognize the need to provide the highest level of skilled nursing services not only for our own residents but for the greater community. Our Post-Acute Care Center offers outpatient therapy services and physician care seven days a week!

Our partnership with Interim Home Health also provides expanded access to nursing care and outpatient therapy for Assisted Living and Independent Living residents. If a resident’s physician recommends physical, occupational, or speech therapy due to a hospitalization or change in condition, the Interim and Catholic Care Center therapy teams can coordinate a plan of care. If wound care, ostomy care, or other nursing services are required, the Interim team can provide them conveniently and privately in the comfort of the resident’s home.

As an added benefit, if a resident comes to the Post-Acute Care Center after hospitalization or Short-Term Skilled Nursing stay, Interim can coordinate continued outpatient therapy after the resident’s return to Assisted Living or Independent Living. This continuity of care is an incredible benefit.

Holistic, Person-Centered Skilled Nursing Care

Skilled nursing has evolved into so much more than therapy. It is an immersive, supportive environment that allows patients the resources and care to regain their strength and focus on returning to the lives they want to live.

In addition to our outstanding clinical care, Catholic Care Center provides opportunities for spiritual, emotional, and social enrichment for skilled nursing patients. We offer daily Catholic Mass, spiritual reflections, Protestant services, wellness classes, art classes, socials and games, and comfortable visiting areas for friends and family members.

If you or a loved one ever need a skilled nursing stay, consider Catholic Care Center for the best in holistic, person-centered care.
